MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 to clinch their 4th IPL championship. Chennai Super Kings defeated Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the summit clash by 27 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 15.

There were several young and veteran Indians who shined in IPL 2021. Also, the Orange Cap and Purple Cap were won by Indian cricketers. However, as always the overseas players were not too far behind and they made a significant contribution to their teams. Some of the expensive overseas buys disappointed their teams. However, some overseas players delivered outstanding performance for the team. In this article, we will try to make the best overseas playing XI of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

The explosive England batter Jos Buttler played 7 IPL 2021 games for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and scored 254 runs at an average of 36.28 and strike rate of 153.01 including one marvellous hundred.

However, he opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 United Arab Emirates (UAE) leg and Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought Evin Lewis as his replacement. If Jos Buttler would have continued with RR in the second phase there is no doubt that he would have made a big impact.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Faf Du Plessis was fantabulous in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The veteran Proteas batsman was scoring good runs consistently with his young opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Faf Du Plessis was part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in all 16 matches and he was the second-highest run-getter of the tournament with 633 runs under his belt at an average of 45.21 and a strike rate of 138.20 with his highest being 95*. Also, Faf Du Plessis won the Player Of The Match Award in the IPL 2021 final for his sensational 86 runs.

Moeen Ali

The comrade of Faf Du Plessis in Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Moeen Ali was a game-changer for CSK in the first half of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. He played explosive innings batting at the middle order and provided excellent stability to the team.

Overall, the 7 crore investment of CSK, Moeen Ali played 15 matches and scored 357 runs at an average of 25.50 and a strike rate of 137.30. Also with the ball, he did a decent job by scalping 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, Just like Faf Du Plessis, he played an amazing knock in the final of IPL 2021 by smashing 37 runs at a strike rate of 185.

Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell after getting the company of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) became Glenn ‘Consistent’ Maxwell. RCB got trolled after they purchased Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore. However, Glenn Maxwell showed his real worth by smashing runs consistently for the team that too with an excellent strike rate.

In the 15 IPL 2021 games, he scored 513 runs and bagged 3 wickets. Maxwell smashed his runs at an average of 42.75 and strike rate of 144.10. He also scored as many as 6 half-centuries in Indian Premier League 2021.

Shimron Hetmyer

West Indies powerhouse Shimron Hetmyer played 14 games for the table-toppers Delhi Capitals (DC). He mainly came down to bat at no. 5 and his job was to finish the innings in style by smashing quick runs and Hetmyer did his job nicely.

Shimron Hetmyer didn’t play big innings, didn’t score big runs but he played the impactful innings for Delhi Capitals (DC). He scored 242 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 168.05.

Jason Holder

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Jason Holder was the shining light in a disastrous season of the team in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The West Indies all-rounder didn’t get enough matches in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League but he delivered a decent performance whenever he got an opportunity to represent the franchise.

Holder in his 8 match stint with SRH in Indian Premier League 2021 scored 85 runs and picked 16 wickets at an average of 15.43 and economy of 7.75.

Dwayne Bravo

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Champion all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was MS Dhoni’s go-to bowler at the death overs. The veteran all-rounder played 11 games for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scoring 47 runs and picking 14 wickets at an average of 18.78 and economy of 7.81.

Also after winning the IPL 2021 championship with CSK, the T20 legend Dwayne Bravo now holds the record of winning most T20 trophies (16).

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mystery spinner Sunil Narine played a big role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ success in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Narine was able to pick big wickets for the team in the big matches and made a significant contribution with the bat whenever the team demanded.

Overall, Sunil Narine played 14 IPL 2021 games for KKR and picked 16 wickets at an average, economy and strike rate of 22.56, 6.44 and 21.00. With the bat, he scored 62 including one game-changing inning in the Eliminator against RCB.

Rashid Khan

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leg-spinner Rashid Khan has always performed well for the team. Even when Sunrisers Hyderabad were struggling Rashid Khan was consistently delivering good performance without getting any support from the other bowlers. In IPL 2021 Rashid Khan even played some very good innings with the bat too.

Overall, Rashid Khan played 14 matches and bagged 18 wickets at an average of 20.83 and an economy of 6.69. Meanwhile, with the bat, Rashid Khan smashed 83 runs.

Anrich Nortje

The South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje was not given chance to showcase his skills in the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, when he was given a spot in Delhi Capitals (DC) XI, he performed better than his compatriot Kagiso Rabada.

The Proteas Speedster played 8 IPL 2021 games and was able to scalp 12 wickets at an average, economy and strike rate of 15.58, 6.16 and 15.16. He bowled some very tough overs and shined with the ball in hand.

Chris Morris

Yet another South African in the list, this time fast bowling All-rounder Chris Morris. Chris Morris was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping sum of INR 16.25 Cr. Also, he became the most expensive player bought in the IPL Auction history.

Although, Morris didn’t fully justify his price he was very good in the India leg of Indian Premier League 2021. In total, he played 11 games and picked 15 Wickets at an average and economy of 25.06 and 9.17. With the bat, he scored 67 runs.
