His car hit a divider, and it caught fire after the collision. As per reports and several pictures that have surfaced online, he has suffered multiple burn injuries, but his condition is stable, and the 25-year-old cricketer is out of danger.

Rishabh Pant was severely injured during the accident, sustaining a couple of lacerations on his forehead, suffering a ligament tear near the knee and from abrasions on his back but thankfully, he is out of danger and continues to be examined carefully by the doctors. Rishabh Pant, alone in his car, was driving to Uttarakhand to pay his family a surprise visit. He was on the Delhi-Dehradun highway when he allegedly dozed off.

it is believed that the 25-year-old will require plastic surgery and skin grafting due to the damage caused to his back. There are no fractures or any serious injuries which ruled him out of danger but at the same time, it is likely that he will miss at least a year’s worth of cricket.

This means that Rishabh Pant is ruled out of IPL 2023 besides the 4-match Test series against Australia and could almost miss the 2023 World Cup in India next year.

Even though the IPL 2023 competition is still three months away, the likes of Mohammed Azharuddin, Baba Indrajith, and Dinesh Bana may be inducted into the Delhi Capitals squad if Rishabh Pant doesn’t get fit by March 20, 2023. They have Sarfaraz Khan, who has done some wicket-keeping in domestic cricket, but only on a part-time basis, and he is also not a certain starter in Delhi’s XI.

Phil Salt is another keeping alternative in the Delhi Capitals squad, but Phil Salt to isn’t a regular wicketkeeper, even for his domestic and Hundred teams, and bringing in Phil Salt in the middle-order would disrupt DC’s overseas combination.

Mohammed Azharuddeen

Swashbuckling Kerala wicket-keeper batsman Mohammed Azharuddeen surprisingly went unsold in the IPL 2023 auction. Mohammed Azharuddeen was with RCB in IPL 2022, when the franchise had picked him up for INR 20 lakh following his exploits in domestic cricket for Kerala, in particular in the T20 format.

In January 2021, Mohammed Azharuddeen smashed the second-fastest century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history, off only 37 balls against Mumbai. This earned him a great deal of attention and an IPL contract from RCB, however, he didn’t get a single game and was released.

He had a decent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy  2022, scoring 143 runs in 7 knocks at a healthy strike rate of 150 with a best of 95*off 47 balls against Karnataka. Mohammed Azharuddeen seems to be the best option for Delhi Capitals among the Indian keepers who’d gone unsold – he’s dynamic, aggressive, and fearless – to replace Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023 Delhi Capitals squad.

Baba Indrajith

A highly successful domestic first-class player, Baba Indrajith, has played 3 IPL 2022 games for Kolkata Knight Riders and scored 21 runs, but he went unsold in IPL 2023.

A pillar for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, Baba Indrajith averages 52 in FC and 45 in List-A cricket, though in T20 cricket he averages only 17, but with only a couple of dozen matches of sample size. Nonetheless, Baba Indrajith brings great experience in Indian conditions and an immensely successful domestic track record.

Dinesh Bana

Part of India’s 2022 Under-19 World Cup winning team, it was keeper Dinesh Bana who hit two sixes at the end to win the chase in the final of that tournament against England U-19. The 18-year-old keeper-batsman Dinesh Bana has also broken into Haryana’s domestic white-ball teams this year. He’s featured in 8 T20s and 2 List-A games for his state this season.

Chances to bat in a strong Haryana team have been few and far between, but whenever he’s got his eye in, with glimpses of his batting and hitting ability, Dinesh Bana has showcased why he’s rated highly among domestic coaches, though the IPL franchises didn’t bid for the youngster. Delhi Capitals might look to rope in Dinesh Bana if Rishabh Pant is ruled out and groom another young keeper for India as they did with Rishabh Pant years ago.
