India Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant Hospitalised After Major Car Accident, Out Of Danger

The 25-year-old India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was taken to hospital following a major car accident near his hometown of Roorkee, Uttarakhand on Friday, December 30.

Reportedly, the accident took place in the early hours of Friday, when the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Pant was returning to New Delhi.

Notably, Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes car collided with the divider and caught fire and unfortunately, he sustained injuries. Following the major car crash, Pant was rushed to a local hospital and is being shifted to a private multi-speciality hospital.

Ashok Kumar, who is the Director General of Uttarakhand Police, has revealed that Pant was alone in the car when the accident took place and he broke the windscreen to come out of the car that caught fire after the crash.

Rishabh Pant Suffers Head, Knee And Shin Injuries

Pant has reportedly suffered injuries to his head, knee and shin after the accident. Also, there is a possibility of a fracture in his leg and he is currently being moved to the Max Hospital in Dehradun.

“Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident at around 5:30 am. The incident took place at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee. According to what Pant said, he dozed off while driving and as a result, the car collided with the divider and caught fire. He was moved to the Roorkee hospital from where he has now been shifted to Dehradun,” DGP Ashok Kumar told the media.

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman took to Twitter to confirm that thankfully the young wicketkeeper-batter is out of danger.

“Praying for Rishabh Pant. Thankfully he is out of danger. Wishing @RishabhPant17 a very speedy recovery. Get well soon Champ,” VVS Laxman tweeted.

Meanwhile, Pant was not included in India’s squads for the upcoming home ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. He will reportedly travel to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

India will begin their 2023 with a white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home. The T20Is will be played on January 3, 5 and 7 in Mumbai, Pune and Rajkot respectively. The ODIs will be played on January 10, 12, and 15 in Guwahati, Kolkata, and Trivandrum respectively.
