Due to an elbow ailment, Mark Wood was compelled to miss the entire 2022 IPL season. Andrew Tye took Wood’s position on the Lucknow Super Giants. In the shortest version of the game, the Australian quick has prospered, collecting 274 wickets in 195 matches at an 8.11 economy rate.

LSG would have hoped that the 35-year-old would put all of his experience to good use. Tye, however, was unable to rise to the occasion; in three games, he only managed to pick up two wickets while conceding runs at an alarming rate of 9.73. He was benched and did not receive another selection as a result of his poor performance.

Sean Abbott, an Australian all-rounder, was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 2.4 crore during the 2022 IPL auction.  He has played in 9 T2OIs so far, picking only 5 wickets at an economy of 8.21.

Abbott, who is known for giving excellent all-around performances in the Big Bash League (BBL), has had recent fitness issues. He missed a number of Australia’s international games as well as a large number of Sydney Sixers BBL games.

Due to his dismal batting performance, Australian T20I skipper Aaron Finch may require assistance finding a buyer in the auction. The 35-year-old Australian has seen ups and downs while playing for nearly every side in the IPL, which is a lucrative tournament.

In the 2021 auctions, Finch wasn’t purchased. Prior to KKR selecting him at the last minute as a replacement of Alex Hales for 1.5 crores, he was also passed over in the 2022 auction. The opener, nevertheless, failed to live up to the confidence placed in him, scoring only 86 runs in five games.

Furthermore, Finch’s poor performance with the bat at the just-concluded T20 World Cup significantly contributed to Australia’s early elimination from the competition. It is very doubtful that any franchise would look to invest in given all the circumstances.
