Wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel, who recently shot to fame with his batting performances and nifty glovework during England's tour of India for a 5-match Test series, spoke about how Rohit Sharma treats youngsters.

Jurel was among the 5 players that were handed with debut Test caps in the series which the Indians won by 4-1 and he was entrusted by the team management led by Rahul Dravid to do well as the replacement of KS Bharat

Dhruv Jurel turned out to be a player in the Test series, who provided an instant impact with his performances. Having made his debut in the 3rd Test at Rajkot, Jurel did not let Rohit Sharma or Rahul Dravid down, as in his very first innings of international red-ball cricket, the youngster scored 46 runs.

He had an important role to play alongside fellow debutant Sarfaraz Khan, Rohit, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and of course 3rd Test's man of the match Ravindra Jadeja

In his 2nd Test match which was the series' 4th in Ranchi, Dhruv Jurel's role in the batting order became even more imperative. As India was trying to respond strongly to England's 1st innings total of 353, the hosts were 177/7 in the 55th over.

However, Jurel, who came in at number 7, had put together 2 important partnerships with Kuldeep Yadav and another debutant - right-arm pacer Akash Deep. His efforts and the tailenders' resilience took India from 177 to 307 with Jurel scoring 90 alone.

Then in the 4th innings during their chase of 192 for the win, India had once again found themselves in a tough situation.

Following a good start from Rohit Sharma (55) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37), the Indians suffered a top and middle-order collapse which saw Rajat Patidar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sarfaraz Khan get out for 0, 4, and 0 with number 3 batter Shubman Gill watching over the fall of wickets.

Gill needed some solid support from the upcoming batter and therein, Dhruv Jurel stepped up once again. The latter had a composed outing and was letting Gill do most of the damage while he kept rotating the strike.

Gill and Jurel's 72-run partnership eventually turned into a match as well as series winning one as India from being 120-5 claimed victory by 5 wickets. Jurel was rewarded with the man of the match award for his 90 and 39* off 77 balls.

What did Jurel say about Rohit Sharma?

While speaking exclusively with Sportstar Hindu, Dhruv Jurel, when asked to speak about Rohit Sharma's impact, stated that he treats his juniors like younger brothers off the field.

However, on the field and during business time, Jurel revealed that Rohit is pretty strict and asked everyone to have a look at the viral videos from the Test series against England.

"Off the ground, Rohit bhai treats us like his younger brothers, but on the field, he is pretty strict, and those videos that have gone viral indicate how strictly he manages the youngsters. It’s fun to be around Rohit bhai, as you get to learn so much from him." - Jurel told Sportstar Hindu.
