Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) go head to head in match 8 of IPL 2024 in Hyderabad on Wednesday, March 26. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and is the first home game for the Sunrisers. 

SRH led by Pat Cummins lost their season opener against KKR by just four runs at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. Chasing 209 to in they fell four runs short needing 13 to win off the final over. Harshit Rana kept his cool and delivered a win for the Knight Riders. 

Mumbai Indias traditionally started their season with a loss against Gujarat Titans. They have been losing the first game of every season since 2023. Hardik Pandya failed to deliver when his team needed the most against his former Gujarat Titans. Hardik Pandya was at the crease when MI needed 19 off the last over. He smacked a six and a four but Umesh Yadav managed to dismiss him off the last ball as the Titans won a thriller. 

After the end of this game, one of the two teams will get their first win of the season. There have been a lot of talks about Hardik Pandya’s switch from Gujarat to Mumbai. His captaincy and some of his decision-making were heavily criticized on his MI return. Mumbai needed 49 off the last five overs and they lost the game by just six runs in the end.

MI and SRH have played 21 matches over the years with Mumbai winning 12 games while the Sunrisers nine. Mumbai Indians won both games last season with Cameron Green’s all-round exploits. MI also won four of the last five games.
