IND vs NZ: Watch – Suryakumar Yadav Makes Hilarious “Mera Batting Coach Hai” Remark On Yuzvendra Chahal After 2nd T20I

The 32-year-old India National Cricket Team star middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, in a light-hearted conversation after the second T20I against New Zealand National Cricket Team, labelled the senior leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as his batting coach.

India National Cricket Team defeated New Zealand National Cricket Team by 6 wickets in the low-scoring second T20I match in Lucknow to level the series 1-1. The series decider will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 1.

In a video shared by the BCCI after the match, Yuzvendra Chahal hosted Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav on Chahal TV. During the interaction, Chahal asked Suryakumar if he had watched his Ranji Trophy videos to prepare for the second T20I game.

“Jaise aap khelte hain 370 degree, voh maine alag sikhaya hai, lekin you jo innings aapne kheli aur adapt kiya, meri red-ball wali video dekhi thi kya Ranji Trophy ki? (The way you play 360 degrees, that I have taught you separately but the controlled innings that you played today and how you adapted to the situation, did you see the video of my batting in the Ranji Trophy?),” Chahal said.

Suryakumar Yadav was left in splits and he credited Chahal for his batting tips and even labelled the leg-spinner as his batting coach.

“Actually jaisa aapne mujhe last T20 series mein sikhaya tha, maine wohi try kiya aah karne ke liye. Main chahunga ka ki aap mujhe aur sikhaye batting taaki aur accha main kaise kar sakta hun, improve kaise kar sakta hun. Viewers dhyan dijiye, mazaak mein mat lena, mera batting coach hai. Sab sikhata hai mujhe (As you taught me in the last T20 series, I tried the same thing. I will want to learn more from him so that I can do well and improve further. Attention viewers, don’t take it lightly, Chahal is my batting coach and teaches me everything),” Suryakumar Yadav said.

I was there in the middle with a clear mindset that it’s a tough wicket to play on – Suryakumar Yadav

Yuzvendra Chahal further asked Suryakumar about his slow batting in the second T20I against New Zealand.

“Our Mr. 360 was very sensible today, he was very calm in the crease. We got to see a different side of him today. I have been watching you since the last 11-12 years and you generally score 70 off 30 balls. So what was your mindset today?” Chahal asked Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar responded that the pitch at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was a difficult one to bat on and hence he decided to play cautiously to guide India to victory.

“I was there in the middle with a clear mindset that it’s a tough wicket to play on and it was important for someone to play till last. It was equally important to build small partnerships and adapt to the situations. I knew this was a totally different wicket than the ones I play freely. I was confident that if I managed to stay till last, I could win the game in the last over as well. When Hardik came in, we had a chat and planned to take the game till last.”

While chasing 100 in the second T20I, the equation came down to 6 runs off the last over, which was bowled by Blair Tickner. The Men In Blue needed 3 runs off 2 balls when Suryakumar Yadav hit a four to take India past the finish line with one ball remaining. Talking about the pressure of 3 runs needed off the last 2 balls, Suryakumar said:

“We were confident enough to win the game and Hardik and I were in a conversation that if any one of us gets the big hit, the match is ours. We did not panic and the communication with Hardik was very important.”
