KL Rahul answered his critics with a half-century in the second T20I between India and South Africa on Sunday, October 2 in Guwahati.
In the current three-match T20I series, the 30-year-old top-order batsman scored his second consecutive fifty. While the first one took 56 balls, the second one was far faster, taking only 24 balls.
On Sunday, October 2, the second game of the three-match T20I series between the South Africa National Cricket Team, captained by Temba Bavuma, and the India National Cricket Team, captained by Rohit Sharma, was played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Against the South African National Cricket Team, the India National Cricket Team prevailed by a score of 16 runs. India has now won a series at home against South Africa for the first time in four tries after to their victory in the game on Sunday night. The final game will take place at Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 4, with India leading the series 2-0.
“We’ve always tried to be more aggressive”: KL Rahul
Rahul, who was named Player of the Match in the second Twenty20 International, began his innings after India defeated South Africa by 16 runs to win the three-match series.
“It was the inning’s demand. When you are batting first, you want to give yourself a couple of overs to assess the conditions, see what shots you can play, and talk to your partner, you will see… sort of giving yourself a target as to this might be a par total on this pitch, and you try and try to play according to that “KL Rahul stated during a press conference.
“We’ve always tried to be more aggressive and take a lot of risks and that was what was needed from me today. And I tried to do that and I think it was, you know, I was happy that it came off today.”
“You have to try to hit sixes. You have to get yourself in positions where you can try to hit sixes. And I tried to do that and then react to the ball. And when bowlers are bowling at 145 (km), there’s not much, there’s not much time to see the ball react. You just… it is a bit of instinct and it is a lot of practice and a lot of hard work over the years” KL Rahul Added.
India, which was allowed to bat first, finished with a score of 237/3, with Suryakumar Yadav heading the batting order (61 off 22). Quinton de Kock (69* off 48) and David Miller (106* off 47) provided some optimism for South Africa in response, but they ultimately fell short as India limited the visitors to 221/3.
