Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Lucknow Super Giants is an IPL cricket franchise based in Lucknow. They were one of the two new teams added to the IPL before the 2022 season. The other team was Gujarat Titans. The Lucknow-based outfit is owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, which previously owned the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in 2016 and 2017.

Lucknow Super Giants had picked KL Rahul, Ravi Bishnoi, and Marcus Stoinis in the draft and had appointed the wicketkeeper-batsman as their captain. Andy Flower was appointed the coach while former India opener Gautam Gambhir was named the mentor.

Before IPL 2024, both Flower and Gambhir parted ways with the franchise. While Flower has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as their head coach, Gambhir has been appointed as the captain of his former IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. Lucknow Super Giants have replaced Flower with former Australia head coach Justin Langer.

Ahead of the IPL 2023 season, Lucknow Super Giants unveiled their jersey with dark blue being the primary color and having strips of red on each side. In their debut season, they had donned a greenish-blue color jersey. The logo of the team is a bat with wings. The logo features a dynamic fusion of a bat and ball, seamlessly intertwined with the wings of the tricolor, while the team's name takes center stage.

Lucknow Super Giants' journey in IPL so far:

In their debut season, Lucknow Super Giants exceeded all expectations and made it to the playoffs. They won 9 games in the league stage and finished in the third spot in the points table to advance to the playoffs. Their dream run in the debut season came to an end with a loss in the Eliminator to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In 2023, the Lucknow-based outfit once again qualified for the playoffs but could not progress to the final. They suffered a huge blow early in the competition after an injury ruled their captain KL Rahul out of the tournament. However, they performed really well to finish at the fourth spot and made it to the playoffs before losing the Eliminator once again.
