Sydney Sixers (BBL)

Sydney Sixers are an Big Bash League (BBL) cricket franchise representing Sydney. They are one of the two BBL teams from the city. Founded in 2011, they play their home games at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground as well as the North Sydney Oval.

Sydney Sixers' journey in BBL so far:

The Sydney Sixers began their journey in the BBL stunningly. In the first BBL season, they finished third in the points table after the league stage before going on to win the final. In the semifinal, they defeated Hobart Hurricanes before getting the better of Perth Scorchers in the title decider to become the first-ever champions of BBL.

In the second season, they could not make it past the league stage before crashing out at the semifinal stage in the third stage. It was followed by a runners-up finish in the fourth season. In the next two seasons, the Sydney Sixers failed to progress ahead of the league stage.

They reclaimed the BBL trophy in 2019-20 season before becoming the second team after Perth Scorchers to defend the title in 2020-21. In 2021-22 season, they were agonizingly close to becoming the first team to win the BBL three times in a row but lost the final
