During the BBL 2023-24, match between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, Scorchers batsman Stephen Eskinazi had to walk back to the dressing room after he was retired hurt during the fourth over of the first innings. Eskinazi had deep pain in his right hand due to the vibrations that he faced about hitting a shot on the fourth ball of the 3rd over.

In the next over, Sydney Sixers pacer Jackson Bird bowled a length ball that went was going away from Stephen Eskinazi. Eskinazi tried to step down the wicket and played a shot toward the mid-wicket region. However, there was also a catching opportunity but the Sixers missed the catch. Eskinazi headed straight back to the dressing room after playing that shot in the 4th over and Aaron Hardie came to the crease as the new batsman.

Perth Scorchers decided to bat first after winning the toss at the Optus Stadium. Scorchers were only able to add 26 runs on the scoreboard before Stephen Eskinazi was retired hurt. Sam Whiteman also was not able to do much and was dismissed for 17 runs off 12 balls. Josh Inglis, who came into bat at number 4 departed for 18 runs from 16 balls.

Perth Scorchers have currently scored 89/2 after the end of 12 overs against Sydney Sixers. Scorchers batsman Aaron Hardie and Laurie Evans will want to take their team to a decent and fighting first-innings score. Scorchers and Sixers are placed in the second and third position of the BBL 2023-24 points table.

Both the teams have qualified for the next round of the tournament and the one who wins today’s encounter in Perth will move to the second spot.

Perth Scorchers will want to win the match and also confirm their place in the top two teams of the points table. Scorchers are the most successful team in the history of the Big Bash League and have won a total of five titles.

Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers are one of the top teams in the history of the Big Bash League. Scorchers finished on the first spot in the last edition of the tournament whereas Sixers ended up on the second spot. Scorchers and Sixers played the 2021-22 final of the BBL which was won by the Scorchers by 79 runs.

Both teams have shared the last four editions of the tournament and have won two titles each. Scorchers now have the opportunity to win the third consecutive BBL trophy.

Returning to the present edition of the Big Bash League, Brisbane Heat top the table with seven wins from 10 games. With Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers acquiring the second and the third position, Adelaide Strikers are placed in the 4th position. All these four teams have qualified for the next stage of the tournament.

However, the lineup for the playoffs is yet to be decided. The Big Bash League 2024 playoffs will start from January 19 whereas the final will be played on January 24.
