Watch: Ravindra Jadeja Castles Haseeb Hameed With A Perfect Delivery

Finally, an Indian bowler managed to breach Haseeb Hameed‘s defences at Headingley, and it was Ravindra Jadeja, who castled the right-hander with a beauty of a delivery after the England opener had troubled the pacers for close to 200 balls.
It was a dream ball from the left-arm off-spinner with a smart setup. Just on the ball previous to the wicket, Ravindra Jadeja, bowling his first over of Day 2, lured Hameed into a forward defence. He then darted the next one in with a speed of 97 kmph on a good length.
Hameed once again pushed forward to defend it; the ball straightened on pitching and passed the bat’s outside edge, while the batsmen played inside the line, and hit the top of the off-stump to give Ravindra Jadeja his first wicket of the series – the southpaw had gone two Test without a dismissal, although he bowled fairly less amount of overs as the conditions had been pace-friendly.
However, in Headingley the pitch has offered plenty of assistance already to Ravindra Jadeja. This would make India regret their decision on benching R Ashwin for the third game in a row.
The pacers had found it difficult to break Hameed’s resolve as he batted for 68 runs with a strike rate under 35, before Ravindra Jadeja found a way to give India their second breakthrough.

India have made a couple of inroads before Lunch – Mohammed Shami bowled Rory Burns before Jadeja bagged Hameed – on Day 2. However, with the fifties from Burns (61) and Hameed (68), the hosts have conjured up a lead of 104 runs by Lunch and are running away with the game.
The returning Dawid Malan seems to have taken his white-ball form to red-ball as well – he stroked away four boundaries and raced to 27 while the in-form Joe Root hit a couple of fours in his 14-ball stay in the first session. India would soon need to run through the England batting line-up to have any chance of victory.
