The 52nd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) was played between the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday, May 4, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Both Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have struggled in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League with the IPL 2022 champions sitting at the 8th spot on the points table and the Benguluru-based franchise taking the 10th position.

GT have won 4 out of 10 matches they have featured in while RCB have earned victories in 3 matches of the 10 they have played. Also, both the teams have a very slim chance of making it to the playoffs and they will have to give it all in their remaining matches to give themselves a chance to finish in the top 4.

Out of their last five matches, both GT and RCB have won 2 each but the Faf du Plessis & Co. will be entering the match with more momentum on their side as they won two back-to-back games.

This is the second match between RCB and GT as the two teams have already faced off against each other in IPL 2024. In their first match, a century from Will Jacks blew away GT and the bowlers were clueless seeing the storm.

Batting first, the Gujarat Titans managed to score 200, thanks to the brilliant performances from Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan. However, when it came to the defense, nothing went in the favour of Titans as first Virat Kohli showcased his true class, and then Jacks went from 50 to 100 in 6 minutes to help RCB seal a 9-wicket win with 24 balls remaining.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. Speaking at the toss, Faf du Plessis said:

"We are going to chase. The conversation has been good. To make that shift from the beginning, that's pleasing. From a batting perspective, we have found our mojo. The guys can come in and bat freely. Same team."

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill said that the chat in the GT camp is about winning their remaining 4 matches and making it to playoffs. He also revealed about the changes they made to their playing XI. He said:

"The talk is to win four in four. It's important to turn up and deliver our best. I feel our fielding has let us down. We have had a chat about it. We need to be a better team as a fielding unit, we have had a chat. IPL is such a long tournament. It's important to turn up on the day. We have two changes, Manav makes his debut and Josh Little comes in."
