IND vs WI: Washington Sundar Ruled Out Of The Three-match T20I Series vs West Indies

Young Indian spin bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20 International series against the West Indies National Cricket Team.

Washington Sundar recently made a comeback in international cricket after a very long time during the One Day International series against West Indies and he delivered a good performance for the Indian team.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official has said that Sundar has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury and he will have to report at the NCA on Tuesday, February 15 and will have to spend at least three weeks at the NCA.

Washington Sundar Is The Third Indian To Get Ruled Out Of The West Indies T20Is

The T20I series between India and West Indies will be played on February 16, February 18 and February 20 and all the matches of the three-match T20I series will be played at the same venue, which is Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the Indian team had a net session at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Monday evening and the spin bowling all-rounder Sundar has already left the Indian camp.

Notably, Sundar is the third Indian player to get ruled out of the T20I series as white-ball vice-captain KL Rahul and spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel had already been ruled out of the series. Rahul had suffered a left hamstring strain and Axar Patel is in the final stage of his rehabilitation. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda have replaced Rahul and Axar in the Indian squad.

“They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injury,” the BCCI said recently adding “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda as replacements.” 

Meanwhile, it’s highly unlikely that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee will name a replacement for injured Washington Sundar for the T20I series because of bio-security protocols.
