The playing eleven for Australia’s test match against South Africa on December 26 scheduled to be held in Melbourne has been announced.

As he recovers from a side strain, Josh Hazlewood is expected to miss one more Test. The Ashes hero from last year, Scott Boland, has kept his spot in the starting lineup and is hoping to keep up his impressive performance.

As David Warner gets ready to participate in his 100th Test for his nation, there are no alterations to Australia’s batting order. Usman Khawaja, a fellow left-hander, will be at the top with him, followed by Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Travis Head, the first Test’s Player of the Match.

Australia will try to extend their advantage over the competition as the race for a spot in the World Test Championship Final heats up, and Dean Elgar’s squad will try to bounce back after dropping the first Test of the series.

With a commanding six-wicket victory over South Africa in the first Test at Brisbane, Australia continued their summer streak of undefeated Test performances at home.

Australia increased its lead in the World Test Championship rankings thanks to the victory, while South Africa dropped to third place as a result of India passing them.

Pat Cummins explains why he chose Scott Boland over Josh Hazlewood:

In a press conference, Australia skipper Pat Cummins explained why he chose Scott Boland over seasoned campaigner Josh Hazlewood.

“We gave Josh Hazlewood every chance, but it just got to a stage where he more than anyone else felt like he was a little bit underdone. It’s a mark of the man really, he himself said ‘don’t feel quite right’ so he kind of pulled himself out of selection. We talk a lot about how as a team we need a squad mentality and I think it’s another great example,” said Cummins as quoted by ICC.

Hazlewood, who has taken almost 200 Test wickets, has missed Australia’s last two Tests due to a side injury.

Scott Boland has been nothing short of impressive since his debut for Australia, picking up 25 wickets in five Tests at a stunning average of 10.36.
