Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had an excellent season so far in this edition and they would be looking to have some additional boost with new recruits in the mid-season transfer. So far, they have won five out of their seven games in their campaign this year with 10 points on board and have a healthy run rate of 1.263.

They are at the table-toppers right now at the midway stage and they do not have many issues to ponder about. Faf Du Plessis has been the highest run-scorer this season for the Chennai Super Kings while Deepak Chahar has been taking wickets regularly at the start of the innings. Lockie Ferguson:

Lockie Ferguson has been sitting on the sidelines for the most part of this edition for the KKR and the New Zealand quick is one of the best fast bowlers in the world going around now. Chennai Super Kings have missed out on Josh Hazlewood while Lungi Ngidi isn’t performing really well for the franchise.

They are in need of an out and right pacer who can bowl at good speeds with the new ball. Ferguson is one of those pacers who can crank it up at high speeds and he will definitely be not happy sitting in the dugout for so long.

There have been talks of him replacing Sunil Narine in the playing XI, but it hasn’t happened and CSK should try getting the fast bowler who can do great playing under someone like MS Dhoni.

Tim Seifert:

Tim Seifert is another wicket-keeper batsman who hasn’t played many IPL games and has been part of the KKR squad for the last two years. He has a good international record against India and he can be very destructive at the top. CSK does not have many overseas batting options who can play at the top order at present.

Faf Du Plessis has been scoring consistently, and he has been giving the much-needed starts for the franchise at the top alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. Seifert is not expected to get a game in the strong KKR lineup and hence, he can be targeted by CSK who do not have any overseas backup for Faf Du Plessis in the squad.

Umesh Yadav:

Umesh Yadav hasn’t featured for the Delhi Capitals which is very surprising and he can be a very good pick for the Chennai Super Kings who are struggling with no experienced Indian pacers. Shardul Thakur has been getting the nod but he hasn’t performed up to the expectations so far and has conceded a lot of runs.

With all the other Indian pace options being inexperienced, Umesh Yadav could be the right choice for Chennai to target. Umesh can bowl well with the new ball and he can swing it at a good pace to trouble the batsman. He is one of the vital cogs in the Indian test bowling unit and MS Dhoni does know how to use him when Umesh did really well under Dhoni in the 2015 world cup.
