Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on Dhruv Jurel following his match-saving knock during the first innings of the ongoing fourth Test match. Suresh Raina credited Skipper Rohit Sharma for including Dhruv Jurel in the Indian Test team against England.

Dhruv Jurel rescued the Indian team on day 3 of the match at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. The right-handed batter scored his maiden half-century in international cricket. However, he failed to convert it into a century, as he fell short of the milestone.

The home team collapsed to 177/7 in response to England’s 353 runs. However, Jurel added a crucial 76-run partnership with Kuldeep Yadav, who scored valuable 28 runs from 131 deliveries, for the eighth wicket. Jurel also added a 40-run stand with No. 10 Akash Deep.

The 23-year-old was the top scorer for India in the first innings, scoring 90 runs off 149 balls with the help of six boundaries and four sixes. The wicketkeeper-batter played a vital role in limiting England’s lead to 46 runs before losing his wicket to left-arm spinner Tom Hartley.

In response, India reached 118/3 by the end of the first session on Day 4.
