Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face KKR in the first game of IPL 2022 on March 26. It is a rematch of the IPL 2021 final. KKR are placed in group A along with Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Supergiants. CSK are placed alongside RCB, SRH, PBKS and GT in group B.

IPL 2022 might be the last one for MS Dhoni. He is ageing 39 at the moment and might well hang his boots after playing this IPL in front of Indian fans The league stage will be played from March 26 to May 22 with the final scheduled for May 29. Chennai Super Kings have lost the Deepak Chahar event before the tournament started with an injury.

The southpaw is in the form of his life at the moment. He recently scored an unbeaten 175 in the first Test against Sri Lanka to validate his batting skills. He will enter the IPL with a rich vein of form which can certainly be a huge plus for the franchise. So far he has scored 1324 runs and picked 100 wickets for CSK in 132 games.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad ended IPL 2021 as the highest run-getter for CSK. His consistent run-scoring form prompted the franchise to retain him ahead of the mega auction. Opening the batting, he is the most important batter in the lineup. He will find a new opening partner with Faf du Plessis not a part of CSK anymore. It will be interesting to see how Gaikwad fares for CSK with new expectations from him. He can certainly be a candidate who can win the Man of the Tournament Award.

Dwayne Bravo

Bravo already has the record of picking the most wickets in a season twice in the IPL (2013, 2015). He has proved his worth in gold for the franchise with his consistent performances. He will continue to be a player from whom the franchise will have a lot of expectations. Bravo was one of the old players rebought by Chennai Super Kings.

Robin Uthappa

CSK placed their faith in Robin Uthappa and bought him back at the mega auction. In the limited opportunities that he got last season, Uthappa proved his mettle with the bat. With no Faf du Plessis, he might open the batting with Ruturaj Gaikwad. The franchise should provide him enough opportunities to score and make a substantial contribution. He previously won the Orange Cap with KKR in IPL 2014 and is a good candidate for the Player Of The Tournament Award.

Conway has finally got his opportunity to play in the IPL. The four-time IPL champions bought him for 1 crore. He is one of the reputed T20 cricketers all over the world. He has the reputation of being a big-hitter and has played across various T20 leagues. He can get plenty of opportunities at the top of the order to make his presence felt for the franchise. Doing so, he can also be a contender for the Player of The Tournament award.
