Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha believes that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have no reason to drop Ajinkya Rahane as he is experienced and can play the role of the anchor at the top of the order.

Rahane was fluent in the first game of the season against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) but since then, he has gone back into his shell. Alongside Venkatesh Iyer at the top, the opening partnership hasn’t been what KKR would have liked.

I think KKR will stick with Ajinkya Rahane. He is experienced and runs the game. So, I think he will be given a long rope because KKR are well placed as well; they are not in a do-or-die situation at the moment. They are backing such a player who has caliber and experience.”

Upper hand is with KKR, based on the way they have played so far. But it has been SRH who have utilized their resources better. The way they read games is also pretty incredible. This is going to be a good competition, but KKR looks better on paper,” Ojha said.

KKR is in second place with 3 wins in five matches and a net run rate of 0.446. They will be facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday in what is a chance to go to the top of the table.
