Chris Jordan was one of the 8 players Chennai Super Kings released during the IPL 2023 retention window. Jordan was picked up for 3.6 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, he did not get to play too many matches for the franchise. In four matches he picked up just two wickets at an average of 67.50 and an economy of 10.52.

Jordan recently played in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 for England. He played just the semi-final and the final and came up with notable performances. He came into the XI as Mark Wood’s replacement. He picked up 4 for 43 against India in the semi-final and 2 for 27 in the final against Pakistan.

Despite not playing matches regularly for England, he remains their most trusted death bowler. CSK roped him in for this very reason last season. However, he did not perform as was expected from him and was released ahead of a new season.

This gives the other nine franchises the to snap up Jordan and use his accuracy at the death. He mixes his deliveries well and throws in his yorkers time and again at the death. In this article, we take look at three franchises that can pick Chris Jordan for the next season.

In Tim Southee and Umesh Yadav, KKR have two good new ball bowlers. KKR traded Lockie Ferguson back who generally bowls as the first change for his national side. In Jordan, KKR will get an out-and-out specialist death bowler.

His performances in his last two T20Is for England show why he is trusted by his teammates to get the job done. With a remaining purse of 7.50 crores and three overseas slots available, Jordan should be one of KKR’s targets.

LSG retained Mark Wood, despite the Englan speedster missing the entire season due to injury. Wood has been injury prone in his career for a long-time now. Lucknow can target Jordan in the upcoming auction and keep him as Wood’s backup. The rest of the bowlers in the squad are mainly bowlers who can bowl at the start and through the middle.

Jordan is also one of the best fielders in modern cricket and one of the fittest cricketers as well. Lucknow has a remaining purse of 23.35 crores after the retention window.

Jordan has played a couple of matches for SRH before in the IPL. With a purse remaining of over 40 crores and looking to revamp their squad, Hyderabad should look to rope in Jordan as of their key players. He can resolve the death bowling woes of the franchise and his fielding will always be an added bonus. Overall Jordan has picked up 27 wickets from 26 matches in the IPL so far.
