Shubman Gill’s first T20I century came with the great Sachin Tendulkar watching from the stands, as per Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, who insisted it was a special moment.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Tendulkar was asked by the BCCI to congratulate the Indian team that had won the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup. While everything was happening, Gill radiated excitement and demonstrated his versatility with a stunning knock of 126*(63).

“Shubman will consider himself fortunate to play such a game in front of Sachin Tendulkar. Even Sachin would have enjoyed his knock given the shots he made and the manner he outplayed the bowlers. He looked to bat confidently and continued the havoc, whether it was a pacer or a spinner.”

In the third T20I encounter of the series, Indian batsman Shubman Gill produced a spectacular century against New Zealand. Shubman became the youngest Indian player to make a century in this format when playing in the decider in Ahmedabad, hitting a century off 54 balls.

Rajkumar Sharma praised Shubman Gill for the poise and composure he has displayed for India despite being only 23 years old. Rajkumar believes Gill has time on his side and has the potential to be one of the top players of the upcoming generation.

“It’s too soon to tell, but Shubman Gill has the potential to be the greatest player of the next generation. He possesses good technique, a good temperament, and a strong desire to score huge runs. You have the makings of a great player when you’re so calm at such a young age and have a fantastic work ethic.”

India’s impressive score of 234 runs was made possible by Gill’s century. In the first two Twenty20 Internationals, where the totals were on the lower side, the Indian team has been having trouble on spin-assisting wickets. In reality, New Zealand only managed 99 runs in the second T20I match, which India had to chase down in 19.5 overs.
