IND vs SL: 3 Young Indian Players Who Might Be Drafted Into The Test Team

After losing the Test series against South Africa overseas, the Test series at home against Sri Lanka becomes an important one for the Indian team. The IND vs SL Test series starts from February 25 in Bengaluru. The second Test will be played in Mohali from Match 5-9. The Test series will be followed by a three-match T20I series.

The IND vs SL Test series will be a crucial one for India as they would look to get up in the ICC World Test Championship points table. They are currently fifth on the table while Sri Lanka is topping it based on their percentage points. If India completes a whitewash against the Lankans at home, it will certainly boost their percentage points as well.

This series also gives the management a chance to try out a few players by adding them to the Test squad. The squad will be announced in due course but there are a few payers who might get drafted into the squad. Prasidh Krishna

The Karnataka pacer bowled really well for India in the ODI series against West Indies. He ended the series with the most wickets (9 from three games). Krishna was a part of the Indian Test squad for the Test series against England last year but was not given a game. With the first Test in Bengaluru, Krishna can surely be added to the squad given that he knows all about the Chinnaswamy stadium. Ideally, the tall bowler can be given a chance in both the Test matches of the IND vs SL series.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar is a champion bowler in white-ball cricket. The Test series might be an opportunity to Test his skills as a red-ball bowler. He has the gift of swing naturally and can be a tough bowler to handle for a rather inexperienced Lankan side without their former greats. The pitch at Mohali will provide extra pace and bounce and both Krishna and Chahar can be tough for the opposition bowlers to play against.

Suryakumar Yadav

With the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara not in good form and nearly at the final stage of their respective careers, SKY can be groomed as India’s next middle-order batsman in Test cricket. A middle-order of Virat Kohli at three, Shreyas Iyer at four and Surya at five can be the ideal lineup to have in the IND vs SL Test series. Like the other two players in the list, Suryakumar’s red-ball skills can also be tested in the IND vs SL Test series.
