Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has hailed Ravindra Jadeja for his outstanding performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali. Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 with the bat and picked up nine wickets with the ball to cap off a memorable performance. His performance helped India win the game by an innings and 222 runs.

This is Ravindra Jadeja’s highest Test score for India. He became the all-time highest run-scorer for India, batting at no. 7 in Test matches. Jadeja also became only the third Indian to register a score over 150 while batting at No.7 or below in Test cricket. Apart from Jadeja and Kapil, Rishabh Pant is the other to play a 150-plus knock batting at that number for India.

Hailing the southpaw’s all-round performance, Wasim Jaffer while talking to ESPN Cricinfo said that this Test match will be remembered especially for Ravindra Jadeja’s performance and called Jadeja’s Test.

“It must be called Jadeja’s Test. I was a little bit sad that he couldn’t get 10 wickets. Otherwise, it would have been a perfect Test match. But he had a fantastic Test match and really well played by Team India.”

Speaking after winning the Player of the Match award, Jadeja said that Mohali is his lucky ground. He has scored 327 runs at an average of 81.75 in four Test matches. With the ball, he has grabbed 27 scalps at an average of 14.66.

“Whenever I come here, I get positive vibes. Feeling very good, happy to score runs and pick wickets for the team. Obviously, as a player, you boost your confidence with such a performance. I have not done anything differently, just played to my strengths and I give myself time to settle down.”
