Hardik Pandya, an all-around player for Team India, has acknowledged the significant contribution, Ashish Nehra, the coach of the Gujarat Titans (GT), has made to his growth as a leader.

The cricket player claimed that working with a similarly minded coach improved the worth of his captaincy.

Pandya guided the Men in Blue to a three-match T20I series victory over Sri Lanka at home. India won the series 2-1 with a 91-run victory in the final game in Rajkot. Batting first, the hosts had amassed 228-5 thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s 112* off 51 balls. The bowlers then worked together to dismiss Sri Lanka for 137 in 16.4 overs.

The Baroda-born bowler bowled nine overs in the series, with his best performance coming in the third T20I in Rajkot. He took the new ball and scored 4-0-30-2, dismissing Avishka Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne for ducks.

“I have never led in junior cricket as well”: Hardik Pandya

Pandya was questioned about how much his time as GT’s leader had aided him during a news conference after the Sri Lanka T20Is.

“I have never led in junior cricket as well. I was the U16 captain for Baroda. What was crucial from the Gujarat perspective was the type of coach I worked with. Ashish Nehra made a significant effect in my life; we share many cricketing ideas. we are very similar cricketing thought-wise. Because I was with him, it added more value to my captaincy. It helped me to get exactly what I know. It was just getting assurance. It has definitely helped me,” Hardik Pandya said.

“Because I was with him, my leadership gained value. It aided me in learning precisely what I know. It was simply gaining assurance. It has undoubtedly aided me,” Hardik Pandya added.

India won the series 2-1 with a 91-run victory in the third T20I, highlighted by Suryakumar Yadav’s century, marking Pandya’s maiden series in that role on home soil.
