IPL 2018: Who went to whom in marquee players’ list?

With the start of the bidding of 16 marquee players, the prominent auctioneer Richard Madley has made it interesting on the first morning of auction-day on January 27 (Saturday) owing to the widely-recognised Indian Premier League (IPL) which is concurrently taking place in Bengaluru.

In overall 16 marquee players list, two had gone unsold so far, in the form of swashbuckling Windies Chris Gayle and England’s batting mainstay Joe Root.

However, both the star batters are bound to return in the bid in the later part of the riveting auction which is going to spring a surprise or so.

The left-handed explosive opener Gayle was an integral part of the crowd-favourite Royal Challengers Bangalore, as, on the other side, Root is eyeing to make the debut in the Twenty20 league which has grabbed all the attention following the burgeoning success.

So far, Ben Stokes in the ongoing auction, England-based star all-rounder has shelled out 12.5 crores from the Rajasthan Royals.

Here’s the list of 14 marquee players and how much they have fetched in the mega IPL auction 2018:

Ben Stokes – INR 12.5 crore; Rajasthan Royals

The prominent all-rounder Ben Stokes has been the vital cog in the wheel particularly in the limited-overs cricket, and he has been the major fascination with the bat and the ball.

The 27-year-old Stokes made entry with the bang in IPL when he sealed the staggering 14.5 crore deal with Rising Pune Supergiant(s).

In 12 matches, Stokes scored 316 runs and bagged 12 wickets.

Mitchell Starc – 9.4; Kolkata Knight Riders

The speedster Mitchell Starc has been a brute force with the ball and has made the entry in the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which further saw him returning with new franchise Kolkata Knight Riders after the whopping deal of INR 9.4 crore.

In 27 matches so far, Starc, who was the part of Royal Challengers Bangalore bagged 34 wickets at an impressive average of 20.38.

Shikhar Dhawan – 5.2; RTM Sunrisers Hyderabad

The left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been on the role for the Sunrisers Hyderabad which further saw him deliver.

Dhawan, who is known for pyrotechnics has featured in all IPL season which further saw Kings XI Punjab bidding on him before Hyderabad-based outfit exercised the Right to the Match card.

In 127 matches, Dhawan scored 3,561 runs at an average of 32.66. He registered 28 fifties.

Ravichandran Ashwin – 7.6; Kings XI Punjab

Prominent off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was availed by Kings XI Punjab in INR 7.6 crore after representing his home side Chennai Super Kings.

After making his appearance in the second edition of IPL, Ashwin played 111 matches in which he bagged 100 scalps at an average of 25.

Kieron Pollard – 5.2 crore; RTM Mumbai Indians.

Kieron Pollard has been known for his hard-hitting prowess which further saw the 30-year-old all-rounder playing a crucial role for his side.

Pollard, who has been acrobatic on the field has further proved his worth after entertaining the crowd with his maiden appearance in 2010 and has been playing the imperative role for Mumbai Indian while having a couple of modest years.

In 123 IPL outings, Pollard scored 2,343 runs at an average of 28.92 which saw him smashing 12 fifties.

The medium pacer Pollard has also collected 56 wickets.

Faf du Plessis – INR 1.6 crore; RTM Chennai Super Kings

The 33-year-old batsman Faf du Plessis has been known for delivering on any of the conditions and has been serving Chennai Super Kings as the South African skipper made his IPL entry in 2012.

In the eleventh auction of the IPL 2018, Super Kings exercised the Right to Match card and sealed the middle-order batsman du Plessis in INR 1.6 crore deal after Kings XI Punjab offered the bid.

In 53 IPL matches, du Plessis scored 1,295 runs at an average of 30.11. He smashed eight fifties.

Ajinkya Rahane – INR 4 crore; RTM Rajasthan Royals

The right-handed batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who was the part of the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals before being defunct for two year due to the fixing scandal saga of 2013.

After missing out the solitary edition of the third IPL edition, Rahane didn’t look back which saw him playing 11 matches in which he scored 3.057 runs at an average of 33.59. He has a hundred and 25 fifties under his belt.

Royals had shown enough faith in their premium batter to exercise the Right to Match card.

Shakib Al Hasan – INR 2 crore; Sunrisers Hyderabad

Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been a key figure in the short-paced tournament which further saw him featuring in most of the editions for Kolkata Knight Riders and went on to collect INR two crore after the Sunrisers Hyderabad sealed the deal.

The star all-rounder Shakib might have featured in a solitary game in the tenth edition, however, saw him playing overall 43 matches in which he scored 498 runs and went to claim 43 scalps at an average of 25.60.

Glenn Maxwell – INR 9 Crore; Delhi Daredevils

The batting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell might be struggling with the form, but Delhi Daredevils has foreseen somewhat spectacular.

Maxwell, who has the varied array of shots, is further known for changing the complexion of the game.

Having the miserable run as of now, Maxwell played 57 IPL matches in which he scored 1,228 runs at an average of 25.06 which further saw him collecting 11 wickets.

Gautam Gambhir – INR 2.8 crore; Delhi Daredevils

The left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir, who has served as the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders this time around was bagged by his former team Delhi Daredevils in INR 2.8 crore after the Kolkata-based outfit was reluctant to use the RTM.

Gambhir has played 148 IPL matches in which he scored 4,132 runs at an average of 31.78. He smashed 35 half-centuries.

Dwayne Bravo – INR 6.4 crore; RTM Chennai Super Kings

After missing the 10th edition of IPL due to the injury, Windies all-rounder and entertainer Dwayne Bravo has returned to his team for the eleventh edition.

Bravo, who has been sensational in the field as well further saw him playing 106 matches in which he scored 1,238 runs.

Exceptional with the ball and having the knack of bagging the wickets at regular intervals, Bravo has claimed 122 wickets at an average of 22.27.

Kane Williamson – INR 3 crore; Sunrisers Hyderabad

New Zealand skipper, who has been the part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past, further saw him being brought to the fold in INR 3 crore.

The right-handed batsman Williamson is known for delivering across formats, Williamson played seven matches in the tenth edition of IPL which saw him registering 256 runs at the average of 42.66. However, in overall 15 matches after playing his first season in 2015, Williamson scored 411 runs at an average of 31.61. He has also collected three fifties.

Yuvraj Singh – INR 2 crore; Kings XI Punjab

The left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh will be playing for his old-franchise Kings XI Punjab. He was availed at the base price of INR 2 crore.

Pertinently, the 37-year-old batsman had a mixed season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 trophy which further saw the Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to not to opt for the Right to Match card.
