As the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is not that far, the 2008 IPL champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) are considering moving their base out of Jaipur for the IPL 21020. It is due to the lack of proper infrastructure that the pink army team has been forced to rethink playing their home matches in Guwahati.

The officials of the franchise have termed Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) treatment as “complete harassment”.

The officials conceded that all the bodies concerning the association, including the state’s sports council, the machinery catering to law and order, including the officials and the political bigshots have given them anything but discomfort.

The representatives further lamented their ability to come up with a well-designed infrastructure and that the newly elected officials would need some time to improve the conditions.

“Be it at the state’s sports council, under whose aegis the Rajasthan Cricket Association(RCA) falls, the state machinery catering to law and order, the former officials of the RCA itself and the political bigwigs in the state…they’ve all collectively given Rajasthan Royals nothing but trouble over the years,” the officials stated as quoted by Times of India.

“Look at the stadium. It’s in such a bad state. The newly elected body elected in RCA has just come in and they’ll need time even if they’re looking to correct things. The place has been a mess for quite some time now. Over the years, RCA has failed to come up with good infrastructure anywhere outside of Jaipur,” the official added.

Request to play in Guwahati has further landed them in complications:

The officials gave the reason for choosing Guwahati for playing few matches stating that the area has a robust Marwari presence which will attract plenty of fans into visiting the team when they would be in action.

They also remarked that some of their prominent players have visited the venue and admired the same.

However, the request for shifting from one place to the other is pending on multiple aspects and it could take further time.

“It’s a lovely ground. Some of our leading players visited the venue and praised it. There’s a strong Marwari presence in the northeast and we feel welcome there. That’s why we put in a request.” they further added.

The upcoming season of the IPL commences on the 29th of March.
