IPL 2022 Schedule Announced, CSK vs KKR To Be The Opening Clash

BCCI on Sunday announced the schedule for IPL 2022. The tournament will commence on March 26, 2022. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of IPL 2022. On Day 2 i.e. 27th March, doubleheader matches will be played. Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indias will be the 1st match while Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore will be the 2nd match.

The tournament will conclude with the final on May 29. IPL 2022 will witness a battle among 10 teams. Two new teams Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have been added to the tournament. Last month, IPL auction 2022 took place where a total of 204 players were picked by the 10 franchises.

IPL 2022 Schedule Announced, CSK vs KKR To Battle in Opening Game

The full schedule for the tournament was announced by BCCI on Sunday (March 6). The finalists of last season- Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders- will clash in the opening match on March 26. The venue of the clash is Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. A total of 74 games are going to be played during IPL 2022.

Two virtual groups have been prepared by BCCI for IPL 2022. In group A, there are teams like Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants. Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans are part of group B.

Every team will play 2 matches against the teams of their group and against the team on the same spot in the opposite group. They will play one match against the other teams of the opposite group. Hence, every team will play a total of 14 matches during the league stage.

The venue of the IPL 2022 is Maharashtra. All the matches will be played across 4 stadiums in Mumbai and Pune. Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium are the three venues in Mumbai. MCA Stadium in Pune is the 4th venue. This has been done to restrict the flight travels of players. At present, only 25% attendance is allowed in the stadium for the matches for the first half.
