IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Players Punjab Kings (PBKS) Can Target. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) always had superstars in their lineups, from the now-Indian coach Rahul Dravid in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, to the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Yet, they never have really gelled as a unit, and the title has remained elusive.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a good outing in IPL 2022. In fact, they have been doing well in the last few seasons. That said, the expectation will be that the franchise must go all the way. They do have a few gaps in the squad. The Faf du Plessis-led squad can target a few good IPL 2023 auction signings but can also a few talented cricketers in the IPL 2023 trade window.

The likes of Aneeshwar Gautam, Siddharth Kaul, Karn Sharma, Chama Milind, Akash Deep, David Willey and Luvnith Sisodia may be released by RCB before IPL 2023 mini auctions.

Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff returned to Mumbai Indians after Royal Challengers Bangalore traded him ahead of IPL 2023. He was acquired by Royal Challengers at the IPL 2022 auction for his base price of INR 75 lakh but didn’t get any game-time.

After the IPL 2022 mega auction, the cricket legends weighted Punjab Kings among the probable teams to reach the playoff and even win the IPL trophy. The reason was that they had a very good team comprising a bunch of talented utility players who could single-handedly win matches for the franchise.

But, after the IPL league stage finished, the Mayank Agarwal-led team found themselves packing their bags with just 7 wins from 14 matches, finishing the IPL 2022 points table in the 6th position. There will be a lot of brainstorming from now leading up to the 16th edition of the IPL. The likes of Shahrukh Khan, Benny Howell, Sandeep Sharma, Vaibhav Arora, and even IPL 2022 skipper Mayank Agarwal may be released by the franchise.

According to several reports, the Mohali-based franchise is eyeing to release three expensive buys – Mayank Agarwal (INR 12 crore), Shahrukh Khan (INR 9 crore) and Odean Smith (INR 6 crore) – so that they will enter the mini-auction with a big purse.

Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been confirmed as the new captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise for the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Wednesday. Shikhar Dhawan, who was not a part of the Indian T20I World Cup 2022 squad and is considered an ODI specialist and ODI skipper nowadays will replace another opener Mayank Agarwal as the leader of the Punjab-based franchise in the IPL 2023.

English all-rounder, David Willey was picked by the RCB at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for his base price of INR 2 crore. David Willey made his debut for England in 2015 in limited overs cricket. He has been around the England setup for a few years now with 43 T20I matches besides 60 ODI matches to his name.

The left arm fast bowler can also add in some handy runs lower down the order. David Willey made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 edition of the league. He has played two IPL seasons in 2018 and 2022, picking up only 3 scalps in 7 games and scoring 18 runs. RCB is set to release him and Punjab Kings can target him in the IPL 2023 mini auctions.

An experienced pacer, Siddharth Kaul was picked by the RCB at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for INR 75 lakhs. Right-arm pacer, Siddarth Kaul, who has represented the Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) was a regular member in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad since 2017.

He made his ODI & T20I debuts for India in 2018. Siddharth Kaul is more than a handy bowler in the shortest format of the game. He played only 1 game for RCB in IPL 2022 and returned with figures of 0/43. The pacer, who has 58 scalps in 55 IPL games, may be picked by his home franchise Punjab Kings if Bangalore releases him before IPL 2023.

In the bowling charts, it was Punjab’s Siddarth Kaul leading the statistics in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. He ended with 19 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.10 and an economy rate of 6.72. His best bowling figures in the tournament were 5/12.

Akash Deep

RCB pacer Bengal’s Akash Deep was impressive during his spell in the IPL 2022 game against KKR. He claimed three wickets for 45 runs in a key bowling spell. He dismissed Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, and Umesh Yadav as Kolkata were bowled out for 128.

What was most impressive about Akash Deep’s spell was his ability to trouble batters with the short ball. He hurried the batters, and his pace was clearly a bit too hot to handle, especially for the lower-order batters.

25-year-old Akash Deep made his first-class debut in 2019. Akash Deep was bought by the RCB for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. He picked 5 scalps in as many games in IPL 2022 averaging 41. Despite the fact that he was born in Bihar, Akash Deep has played his domestic cricket for Bengal. Punjab might target him in IPL 2023 auctions if he’s released by RCB.
