IPL 2023 Auction: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Players, Squad, Retained Players List, Released Players List, Purse Value, Schedule, Players List.  Lucknow Super Giants were one of the two new franchises that made their debut in IPL 2022.

The Lucknow-based franchise became the first one to represent Uttar Pradesh in the Indian Premier League. KL Rahul was named the captain of the team. The team management formed a stellar squad at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

As expected, LSG made it to the playoffs in their debut season, but they could not win the title. Lucknow finished third on the points table, meaning they had to play in the Eliminator match. Royal Challengers Bangalore knocked them out of the competition by defeating them in the Eliminator match.

Lucknow Super Giants released Indian batter, Manish Pandey, spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, and pacer Ankit Rajpoot besides Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye, West Indies pace all-rounder Jason Holder and his Caribbean teammate opening batter Evin Lewis, and Sri Lankan pace all-rounder Dushmantha Chameera.

Lucknow Super Giants spent 59 Crores in the mega-auction last year while they drafted in the likes of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi for a total of 31 Crores before the IPL 2022 auction. They had no money left in their purse after the IPL 2022 season.

However, INR 5 Crores will be added to every franchise before the IPL 2023 auctions which are set to be held in Kochi next month.

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis was rumored to be released but has held on to his spot. England pacer Mark Wood, who was brilliant at the recently concluded T20 World Cup but missed the entire IPL 2022 season due to injury, is still in the squad.

LSG released the West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who played a key role for the Lucknow Super Giants in the tournament’s last edition in IPL 2022. He picked up 14 wickets.
Apart from Jason Holder, Lucknow also released Aussie pacer Andrew Tye, Indian seamer Ankit Rajpoot, Sri Lanka quick Dushmantha Chameera, and West Indies batter Evin Lewis. Indian batter Manish Pandey and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem were also released before IPL 2023 mini-auctions.

Lucknow Super Giants will have INR 23.35 crore in its purse post its retentions at the player auction. The team can also fill up as many as four overseas slots at the auction. LSG will go into the IPL 2023 auction with ten slots to fill.
