KKR and SRH go head to head in match 3 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. The match starts at 08:00 pm IST and is the second of the two games on Saturday. 

Both teams finished at the bottom half of the points table last season and hence will look to have a better season. Interestingly, both teams have not won the IPL for a long time now. While it has been exactly 10 years for the Kolkata Knight Riders, SRH last won their only IPL title in 2016.

KKR will be led by Shreyas Iyer who has had a tough time since the ODI World Cup. He lost his central contract and has been plagued by the recurrence of his lower back problems. He has been declared fit to play however, has been asked to not stretch his front foot too much while trying to defend the ball by a spine specialist in Mumbai. 

KKR acquires 10 players in the IPL 2024 auction namely  KS Bharat (Rs. 50 lakh), Chetan Sakariya (Rs. 50 lakh), Mitchell Starc (Rs. 24.75 crores), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (Rs. 20 lakhs), Ramandeep Singh (Rs. 20 lakhs), Sherfane Rutherford (Rs. 1.5 crores), Manish Pandey (Rs. 50 lakhs), Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Rs. 2 crores), Gus Atkinson (Rs. 1 crore), Sakib Hussain (Rs. 20 lakhs).

Mitchell Starc was picked up for a whopping 24.75 crores in the auction. IPL 2024 marks his return to IPL and KKR would hope that he delivers for them big time. They have gone back to Manish Pandey while adding Mujeeb Ur Rahman to their spin attack.

SRH will be led by Pat Cummins who was roped in for a whipping 20.50 crores. His recent success with the Australian national team as captain was one of the reasons why they named him the skipper as well. The biggest challenge for SRH will be to manage their overseas players. 

Meanwhile, Waninsu Hasaranga will miss the first few games for SRH with him coming out of his Test retirement to play the Test series against Bangladesh. The two-match Test series is a part of the WTC 2023-35 cycle finishing on April 3. Sunrisers Hyderabad play four games in the first phase. While he is sure to miss out on the first three games on March 23, 27 and 31. his participation in the fourth game on April 3 is also doubtful.
