Mumbai Indians (MI) are not having a great time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Despite having a star-studded lineup, they have failed to set the stage on fire and are reeling at the bottom half of the points table with just 3 wins under their belt from the 9 games that they have played.

Things got even worse for Mumbai Indians after they suffered another disappointing loss in the IPL 2024. They were at the receiving end of a 10-run defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 43rd game of the tournament at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Mumbai Indians opted to field and it wasn't a great outing for them with the ball. They ended up conceding 257 runs on the board as the bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Jake Fraser-McGurk (84) made bowlers look clueless with his brutal power-hitting at the top.

In the end, it was Tristan Stubbs (48*) who launched the attack on the Mumbai Indians bowlers and helped his team post a big total on the board. Jasprit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla were the top bowlers with an economy of around 9 whereas others looked clueless.

With the bat, it was a torrid start for Mumbai Indians as Rohit Sharma (8), Ishan Kishan (20), and Suryakumar Yadav (26) perished early and the team left tottering at 65/3. Skipper Hardik Pandya (46) and Tilak Varma (63) gave their best with the bat and brought their team back into the game.

Tilak took. the game deep while Tim David (37) supported him well. However, both the batters got out at the crucial junctures of the game. Mumbai Indians fell short of 10 runs and bagged their 6th loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Mumbai Indians Qualification Scenario for the IPL 2024 Playoffs

The loss against Delhi Capitals marked Mumbai Indians' 6th loss in the IPL 2024. They are now reeling at the 9th spot on the points table with 3 wins under their belt from 9 games. The Hardik Pandya-led side has just 6 points and has a poor NRR of -0.261.

With the loss against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians have dented their chances to qualify for the playoffs. To fancy their chances of making it into the business end of the tournament, the Hardik Pandya-led side needs to do something magical in the remaining part of the tournament.

To make it into the playoffs, Mumbai Indians need to win all the remaining 5 games. This will take them to 16 points in the table, which might be sufficient to take them to the top 4 in the points table of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Even if Mumbai Indians lose one of their remaining five games, they still will have having chance to qualify but they need to make sure that they win the four games by big margins as NRR is very crucial. If they managed two losses, it would be curtains for them in the tournament.
