The 21-year-old left-handed batsman of Mumbai Indians (MI) - Tilak Varma - pulled off a special celebration after smashing a half-century in the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, April 27, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Tilak Varma has emerged as one of the most consistent batters for the Mumbai Indians since making his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On the back of his brilliant IPL performances, the batter also received his India call-up at a very young and has already represented the country in 4 ODIs and 16 T20Is.

In the ongoing disastrous season of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Tilak Varma has been one of the shining lights of the team. He has consistently scored runs in double figures with his only single-figure score (6) in IPL 2024 coming against Delhi Capitals on April 7. He has breached the 20-run mark 7 times in the ongoing edition of the competition and has slammed three 60-plus scores.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma showcased a batting masterclass against Delhi Capitals and after completing his fifty off 25 balls, he pulled off a special celebration and did a little dance looking at Rohit Sharma.

Notably, the celebration was dedicated to Rohit Sharma's daughter Samaira. He did a similar kind of celebration after hitting his maiden T20I fifty and had made the revelation in a video shared by the BCCI on Twitter.

“It was all about (for) Sammy, Rohit bhai’s daughter because our relation is really good,” said Varma after the match, which India lost by two wickets to go 2-0 down in the five-match series.

“I had said to her that whenever I will score a century or a fifty, I will do a celebration for her,” Varma added.

Talking about the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, the Hardik Pandya-led side faced a 10-run defeat. This was the 6th defeat of Mumbai Indians in the ongoing edition of the league and they are currently at the 9th spot on the points table with points and a poor Net Run Rate of -0.261. The chances of Mumbai Indians qualifying for the playoffs now look very slim and with the batters as well as bowlers not stepping up, it's unlikely that the team would bounce back like it did in previous seasons.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya wasn't satisfied with the performance of Tilak Varma against Delhi Capitals and he slammed the batter for not batting aggressively when Axar Patel was bowling in the middle overs. According to the Mumbai Indians captain, Tilak Varma lacked game awareness during his knock. He said:

"If I had to pick something out, we could have taken a couple of more chances in the middle overs. The left-handers could have probably gone after Axar a little bit, it’s something we missed out in terms of game awareness."
