Team India will be playing a five-match Test series in England after their loss in the World Test Championship final earlier this month. India lost a Test series in England 1-4 with Virat Kohli scoring a mountain of runs for India in that series. India took revenge when they hosted England back in India earlier this year. They won 3-1 in a four-match Test series which helped them get to the WTC final.

Ahead of an important tour of England coming up, we roll back the clock and look at the batsmen who scored the most runs against England in a Test series.

India managed to draw the Test series against 1-1 by winning at Headingley, Leeds after losing the first Test at Lords. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly scored important runs as well but it was Dravid’s heroics with the bat that helped India draw a Test series against the 2019 World Champions.

Virat Kohli had a memorable tour to England in 2018. After a forgetful tour of 2014, Kohli made up for it scoring close to 600 runs. Kohli top-scored in that series with two centuries and three fifties. However, despite Kohli’s best efforts with the bat, India lost the series 4-1 after their opponents played some good cricket throughout the series.

In the upcoming series, Kohli is yet again India’s biggest hope. One understands the result of this Test series has a lot of bearing on his future as India’s Test skipper, especially after the WTC final loss.
