Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Danish Kaneria, who has been very vocal about his support for Sanju Samson, has slammed the BCCI and the Indian selection committee over their stance on the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter and alleged them of “internal politics”.

Sanju Samson, who captains Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has become the talk of the town for his unfair treatment in the Indian team. Despite performing very well in the limited opportunities he has got, Samson is not being given a longer rope, which has left fans and cricket pundits extremely furious.

Samson, who is currently in New Zealand as part of India’s squads for the ODI and T20I series against the Black Caps, warmed the bench throughout the T20I series before being brought back for the first ODI match of the series only to be dropped again for the next two ODIs to make way for sixth bowling option, Deepak Hooda.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Kaneria bashed BCCI and said that former India batter Ambati Rayudu, just like Samson, was not treated fairly by the BCCI and his career ended. He also alleged the BCCI of “internal politics”.

“Ambati Rayudu’s career ended similarly. He scored a lot of runs, but he also faced zyadti (excessiveness). The reason is BCCI and the selection committee’s internal politics. Is there liking or disliking among players?”

“How much can a player tolerate? He already tolerates a lot and scores wherever he gets the opportunity. We might lose a good player because he faces the torture of selection and non-selection in the team. Everyone wants to see his strokes in extra-cover, cover, and especially pull shots,” he added.
