Mayank Agarwal completely failed last season while playing for Punjab Kings. In 13 games in IPL 2022, the right-handed batter scored 196 runs at an average of 16.33. Due to his poor show, the team also dropped him from the squad.

Hence, since he came up with a poor show last season, he might come up with a similar batting show in IPL 2023 as well.

Mayank Agarwal was a permanent opening batsman for India in Test a year ago. However, he has lost that place now. Agarwal is not considered a Test opener for India currently and has been dropped from the Test side.

He played his last Test in March this year against Sri Lanka. However, he was later dropped from the other Tests. Hence, he also has less on-field experience this year. Hence, his confidence will be affected while playing in IPL 2023 after snubbing from the Indian team.

In the last three years, Mayank Agarwal’s batting strike has kept on dropping. He had a strike rate of 156+ in IPL 2020. Later in IPL 2021, his strike rate dropped to 140+. Later in the IPL 2022 season, his batting strike rate dropped to 122+.

Hence over the past few seasons in IPL, Agarwal’s strike rate has continuously dropped. If this continues in IPL 2023, Agarwal will be a flop batter in IPL 2023.
