India’s talismanic pacer Japsrit Bumrah is finally back to the squad after an injury layoff. Earlier, the 28-year-old was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. The Men in Blue felt his absence badly and it was reflected as they failed to make it to the finals of the continental tournament, losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4s stage.

Speaking on Bumrah’s comeback, India skipper Rohit Sharma echoed that Bumrah is an attacking option and his absence has hurt the Indian team to a large extent.

Jasprit Bumrah is an integral cog of the Indian team, reckons Rohit Sharma

Bumrah is now set to take part in the three-match T20I series against Australia from September 20 onwards. The first ODI will take place at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday.

Speaking in a press conference, Rohit was quoted as saying, “Bumrah is a very important player. The way he has performed over the last few years has been fantastic. He is an attacking bowler and if such a bowler isn’t a part of the team, it doesn’t go well for the team,”

“Good to have Bumrah back and I hope he stays fit and bowls as fast as he can, which he normally does,” he added.

Jasprit Bumrah will be clinical for India’s chances at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022

Jasprit Bumrah last featured for the tricolour in the tour of England where India won both the ODI and T20I series. Thereafter, he didn’t take part in the West Indies and Zimbabwe tour, after which a back injury ended his Asia Cup campaign.

The fast bowler, however, is now up and running and will be clinical for India in their aspirations at the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia later this year in October and November.
