Defending champions Australia will tour India to prepare for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup. Australia will play a three-match T20i series to get some good practice by playing against Team India before the World Cup at home.

David Warner took a break from the series to spend more time with his family. More shocking news came out a day before the departure, as three of Australia’s star players would miss the tour of India and they announced three replacements for their original squad of 15 players.

Australia will miss the services of Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis, who have all missed the series due to injuries. CA said in a statement that Marsh (ankle), Stoinis (side) and Starc (knee) will be replaced by Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams, and Sean Abbott in the squad. According to Cricket.com.au, the injuries are minor, but with the T20 World Cup at home next month in mind, Cricket Australia has decided not to risk the players.

Marsh and Stoinis got injured during Australia’s one-day international series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand, but Starc’s injury was confirmed following a knee scan on Wednesday in Sydney.

An injury to Stoinis could pave the way for Tim David to make his international debut for Australia, while veteran batsman Steve Smith could find a place in the playing XI in the absence of Mitchell Marsh, who is expected to be dropped.
