Matthew Wade pulled off a heist in the 1st T20I match against India. The visitors’ run chase was quite topsy-turvy and the game was quite balanced. Indian Cricket Team thought that they could make a match out of it as they had Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who have a reputation for being one of the best at the death overs
Aussies required 61 runs to win from 5 overs which was a tough task as there weren’t any proper batters present. Matthew Wade took the calculative risk and disseminated the bowlers and he wasn’t quite afraid of taking down Harshal & Bhuvneshwar. It won’t be wrong to say that Aussies have a habit of finding match-winners in the 11th hour. Matthew Wade scored 45 runs in 21 balls and chased down the highest total in India.
Matthew Wade on Run Chase
After the match, Wade was seen interacting with the reporters and was asked about the run chase. “Yeah, I think it’s just playing in this country, to be honest, I’ve played enough now to understand it takes a little bit of time to find the pace of the wicket, although that wicket was a terrific wicket, terrific outfield and it’s lovely to bat on. Still takes a couple of balls to find your feet a little bit. A young me probably would panic in that situation and try to find a boundary really quicker than I need to. But yeah, I had great confidence in that outfield, how fast was running in the wicket that was coming on.. If you get bat on a few that you’re going to find a boundary enough, so.”
Indian Cricket Team in Tatters
The Men in Blue would have hoped that they win the match by at-least 20-30 runs as 209 is a very big score. Head Coach Rahul Dravid & Skipper Rohit Sharma would be bothered as now they have to go back to the drawing board. The team has shown great batting prowess but that’s not enough to win a match.
It won’t be wrong to say that Rohit Sharma looks confused when the team is in pressure. We all know that he is a captain’s bowler but that is not doing any great for the team. A billion people would be worried because this team is finding different ways to lose the match again & again which is not at all a good sign.
