Despite winning the three-match T20I series against Australia 2-1, many positives in the batting but the bowling in this series has left much to be desired.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s disappointing performance in the recent T20 series against Australia has become a major concern for the Indian cricket team. With ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia next month, the senior bowler’s struggle with the ball in the death overs, will be a bit of a concern for India.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been playing non-stop cricket for quite some time now and the team management has decided to give him a little break for the home series against South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Looks Tired – Matthew Hayden

Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden backed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, saying that the veteran Indian pacer is tired from non-stop cricket and will be fine after resting in the three-match T20I series against South Africa.

“I think he looks tired and fast bowlers are allowed to get tired. We have seen Virat Kohli’s example, he has had a couple of breaks. That can make all the difference. If a fast bowler is tired, it means that his energy is not there in the ball. I am sure he will be fine. You have got Bumrah back now, I think that combination is going to be key,” Hayden said in an interaction with Star Sports.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was rested for the second T20I against Australia in Nagpur but was recalled for the deciding match in Hyderabad on Sunday. He took the only wicket of Cameron Greene in the fifth over, but was then taken to the cleaners at the death.

Despite bowling well with the new ball, he has been inconsistent in the death overs for some time. Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 39 runs in three overs against Australia in the third T20 on Sunday.

India skipper Rohit Sharma said that it was important to give rest to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“With Bhuvi, it’s important that we give him that space because when you have a guy like him in the team and the quality that he brings, we know that he’s had more good days and bad days,” Rohit said in the post-match press conference on Sunday night.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is among the 15-man Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, which includes Bumrah, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh.
