Bangladesh team created history by defeating South Africa 2-1 in the recent three-match ODI bilateral series in the rainbow nation. In an underwhelming performance in the series-deciding ODI, South Africa came up short against the spirited Tigers side and lost the match by 9 wickets.
Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bat first in the third and final ODI of the series in Centurion. Janneman Malan made 39, Keshav Maharaj made 28 and Dwaine Pretorius made 20 as South Africa folded for 154 runs in 37 overs.
Taskin picked 5/35, while Shakib Al Hasan picked 2/24 for Bangladesh.
In reply, Bangladesh batters got off to a flier as Litton Das made 48 and captain Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten on 87 with 14 fours to his name, as the duo added 127 runs in 20.5 overs for the first wicket. Shakib also remained not out on 18 runs as Bangladesh registered a massive 9-wicket win for the third ODI and won the series 2-1.
Taskin Ahmed won the Player of the Series for his 8 wickets and also won the Player of the Match for his 5/35.
