Barbados Royals will take on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the second match of CPL 2021 on Friday. Barbados Royals and St. Kitts and Patriots acquired the bottom two spots on the points table in the last edition.
Barbados Tridents are one of the most successful teams in the history of the Caribbean Premier League. They have managed to reach the finals thrice and also has two titles to their name. However, last season proved to be a forgettable one as they ended up winning only three games out of 10. Ahead of a new season, they have retained nine players and made some notable acquisitions.
Jason Holder will continue leading the side. Besides, they have retained the likes of Hayden Walsh and Johnson Charles. They have included Glenn Philipps, who was the second-highest run-scorer last season. He is in great form and will further strengthen the batting line-up. Another notable inclusion is Fawad Ahmed.
The Afghanistan spinner was impressive last season for Knight Riders. It will be interesting to see if can deliver similar performances with a new franchise.
On the other hand, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots aren’t the most popular side in the tournament. However, with the inclusion of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, the Patriots will be a team to watch out for this season. Fabien Allen, who missed last year’s edition will also make his presence felt in the team. Along with Gayle and Bravo, the likes of Ewin Lewis, Ravi Bopara and Sheldon Cottrell will be the ones to watch out for.
