Indian opener Shubman Gill jumped 45 spots to move to the 38th spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters. Gill scored his maiden century in the format on Monday to help India secure a 3-0 whitewash.

Gill, who was recently stranded on 98* against the West Indies due to rain, made full use of the opportunity in the 3rd ODI to score a 97-ball 130 studded with 15 fours and a six.

The knock pushed him up to 38 on the list while fellow opener, Shikhar Dhawan, dropped down one spot to 12th despite scoring two half-centuries in the same series.

Following the series win, Gill was happy with his performance. He said his priority was to play as few dot balls as possible.

I was just trying to minimise my dot ball percentage. I tried to hit the gaps as much as possible. When I went in, there were a couple of bowlers bowling good. It was crucial to get through that. Once we were settled, we knew we could attack,” he mentioned.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remained in the 5th and 6th spot after they were rested for the series keeping in mind the all-important Asia Cup which will begin in the UAE on August 27.
