Suryakumar Yadav has remained the top batsman in the ICC T20 world rankings. The Mumbai Indians star has been in superb form in the shortest version of the game, helping his club to recent success in the Indian Premier League.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan continued to perform well, with the former moving up a spot in the ICC Men’s T20 player rankings and the latter remaining in second place.
The race for the top spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings is heating up, with the top three players battling it out. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have a chance to close the gap on India’s Suryakumar Yadav, who presently leads the standings.
Babar, who has risen to third in the latest rankings, will have plenty of chances to reduce the gap when Pakistan plays New Zealand in a T20I series beginning on Saturday.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Both Rizwan and Babar were absent from Pakistan’s most recent T20I series against Bangladesh, and they will be anxious to score freely against the Black Caps, who defeated Sri Lanka 2-1 in their previous series. The upcoming games promise to be thrilling as the race for the top spot intensifies among these exceptional players.
Suryakumar Yadav leads the T20I rankings with a comfortable lead:
Suryakumar Yadav currently tops the T20I rankings for batters with 906 rating points, followed by Rizwan and Babar in second and third place respectively. However, both Rizwan and Babar could potentially gain points while Suryakumar Yadav is busy playing in the IPL.
Interestingly, Conway’s absence from New Zealand’s series against Sri Lanka is what led to Babar moving up to third place in the rankings, with Conway himself also playing in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings. It remains to be seen how these rankings change in the coming weeks as more T20I matches and IPL games are played.
Pakistan will be in action against New Zealand in a five-match T20I series beginning on April 14 in Lahore.
