Shortly after capturing the top rank in the MRF ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka dethroned Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.

After a great start to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Rashid had knocked Australian Josh Hazlewood out of first place, but Wanindu Hasaranga’s ongoing excellence means that he has ascended to the top due to his World Cup exploits.

By the end of the Super 12 stage, Hasaranga had taken 15 wickets during Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign, more than any other player. He has since reclaimed the top spot that he had in November 2021.

With outstanding performances of 3/13 against Afghanistan and 2/23 against England to close the tournament, he cemented his position as one of cricket’s top leg-spinners worldwide.

The 25-year-old is also a capable batsman, but he has remained at number eight in the all-rounder rankings due to a paucity of middle-order appearances during the World Cup.

Sean Williams of Zimbabwe is the lone newcomer in the top 10 all-rounders, but Pakistan’s Shadab Khan is on the rise, moving up 10 spots to position 15.

Moeen Ali of England drops out of the tournament, moving Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, who played a major role in Zimbabwe’s spectacular championship, into sixth and Raza into fourth.

Adil Rashid of England has into the top 10 rankings for bowlers, moving up to eighth place, one position behind fellow countryman Sam Curran.

Suryakumar Yadav Maintains Top Spot

The sole change in the top tier of that list is that Pathum Nissanka has moved up to number 10 in the most recent batter rankings.

Suryakumar Yadav’s excellence keeps him in first place with a significant advantage and a rating of 869 points, a lifetime high. Mohammad Rizwan, Devon Conway, and Babar Azam make out the top four, with Yadav’s brilliant century against Zimbabwe helping to earn his top spot.

Further down the batter rankings, KL Rahul of India and Finn Allen of New Zealand are both making progress, moving up by six and five points, respectively, and approaching the top 10.
