The PAK vs NZ series moves onto the ODIs after the end of the five-match T20I series. New Zealand won the fifth T20I after the fourth ended in a no-result due to a hailstorm hampering the progress of play.

New Zealand made a remarkable comeback after losing the first two games. They won the third and the decider on the fifth T20I on the back of Mark Chapman’s maiden T20I ton. The ODI series will now intensify the contest between the two sides.

Both Pakistan and New Zealand have qualified for the ODI World Cup against India. The series will serve as the ideal dress rehearsal for the mega event later this year in India. Heading into this series, New Zealand are placed second in the ODI rankings while Pakistan is fifth.

Babar Azam will lead Pakistan in the PAK vs NZ ODI series. He scored a century in the second T20I but not many above and beyond that. Tom Latham will lead New Zealand in the absence of Kane Williamson. Latham has the tough task of shouldering a side that does not have its skipper available and playing a series away from home. He drew the T20I series which will be a great boost ahead of the start of the ODI series.
