West Indies take on New Zealand in the third and final T20I of the three-match series on Sunday, August 14 in Jamaica. The match starts at 12 am (August 15) on Monday which is 1.30 pm local time. The hosts have already lost the series having lost the first two games. The Kiwis, on the other hand, are looking for a clean sweep.
New Zealand won the second T20I by 90 runs after posting 215/5 batting first. Glenn Phillips (76) and Daryl Mitchell (48) scored runs in the middle order after Martin Guptill and Devon Conway (42) gave the Kiwis a blazing start.
“I have great memories here. Love playing for my country and this gives me a great feeling. Credit to the West Indies bowlers early on for bowling well but it was better to bat towards the end. Our bowling improved from the last game” said Phillips who won the Man of the Match.
West Indies choked while chasing as they only reached as far as 125/9 in their 20 overs losing the match by a big margin. The batters once again failed to live up to the expectations. Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran spoke about the game and how his batters could not start well in the chase.
“We felt we just had to stay in the game but we didn’t start well. We need to accept and stay in the fight. We have a lot of learning to do as a young group. We are playing cricket games every two days, but I am happy that the guys are actually fighting it out. Some of them are injured but I am happy the guys want to fight on the field” said Pooran.
