Former India captain Kapil Dev has heaped praise on Rohit Sharma's captaincy and has explained the key difference between him and his predecessor Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma's captaincy has become a major talking point once again due to India's brilliant performance in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue have looked unstoppable in the competition so far and have already booked their place in the semifinals. India are also one of the only two unbeaten teams in the competition so far with South Africa being the other one.

In the group stages, India beat Ireland, Pakistan and the USA in testing conditions to book their place in the next round. In the Super 8s, the Rohit Sharma-led side beat Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and reigning Test and ODI world champions Australia to book a place in the semifinals.

Kapil Dev praises Rohit Sharma:

With Rohit Sharma doing well as a captain and just two wins away from leading India to a historic World Cup triumph, Kapil Dev has heaped praise on him. Speaking to ABP News, the legendary cricketer started by saying that while Rohit Sharma does not play or jump around like his predecessor Kohli, he is well aware of his limitations.

Speaking further, Kapil Dev also took a dig at the players who make the captaincy all about themselves as he praised Rohit again for keeping the entire team happy.

"He doesn't play like Virat, doesn't jump around, but he knows his limitations. And within those limitations, no one is better than him," said Kapil Dev.

"Many great players come along, and they lead just for themselves. So Rohit has got one extra tick marked over them because he keeps the entire team happy," he added.

Meanwhile, Team India will take on defending champions England in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday (June 27) in Guyana. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, India had suffered a humiliating 10-wicket loss against England in the semifinal and will be looking to make amends this time.

In the first semifinal, Afghanistan and South Africa will be facing each other. Both the teams are eyeing their first-ever appearance in the T20 World Cup final.
