The India national cricket team will play 10 T20I matches in just 30 days, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed a packed schedule. India will play these matches against the Ireland national cricket team, the England national cricket team, and the Zimbabwe national cricket team.

After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, India will host the Afghanistan national cricket team. The Men in Blue will play a one-off Test and three T20Is during the home series. New Chandigarh will host the Test match, while the 50-over matches will be played in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai.

The Men in Blue will visit Zimbabwe for the third time in four years. They played ODIs there in 2022 and T20 Internationals in 2024. Zimbabwe Cricket officials said that hosting teams like India, Australia, and England helps local cricket grow.

“It is a big boost for Zimbabwean cricket every time we play India, Australia and England. If we can play them in Test cricket, it will be a great opportunity for the players who can only improve when playing against the best and also rewards us for our efforts to keep playing Test cricket,” Zimbabwe Cricket chair Tavengwa Mukuhlani told CFJ.

India’s Packed Schedule Opens Door For Shreyas Iyer, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

India’s busy schedule creates a strong chance for new players to break into the national team, especially with selectors expected to reward standout IPL performances. Management will have the flexibility to rotate players and test different combinations.

Shreyas Iyer will be eager to return after missing out on the T20 World Cup due to limited spots. With India entering a new cycle, he could find himself back in contention if he performs well.

Teenage talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has generated massive excitement. He grabbed attention with a 35-ball century in the IPL last season and has already begun IPL 2026 with a 15-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The left-handed batter might earn his maiden call-up to the senior team.

To avoid injuries, the team is likely to rotate players, especially among fast bowlers and key batters. Careful planning around travel, recovery, and match tactics will be essential to handle the packed calendar, with 10 T20I matches scheduled across three countries in just one month.
