A 17-year-old aspiring woman cricketer committed suicide after reportedly not being selected for higher-level cricket. Bajaj Nagar police in Nagpur registered an accidental death case after they found a note.
Aditi Chaukhande, the 17-year-old cricketer who dreamt of becoming an established cricketer to make her parents proud, lived in Nagpur with her mother and elder brother. Aditi was originally from Akola live in Nagpur for education and cricket training. Her father is a professional civil contractor who stays in Akola.
Aditi Chaukhande wanted to make her parents proud
Media reports claim that Aditi Chaukhande recently passed her Class 12 examinations and was pursuing cricket training alongside his elder brother Prabal Chaukhande. Prabal is also an aspiring cricketer who dreams of becoming a renowned cricketer in the future.
Aditi also dreamt of being a successful person in the field, but somehow she lost all hope. According to reports, on Wednesday night, after having dinner with her mother, Prabal was not there at that moment, went to her room, and then reportedly committed suicide.
Police found a suicide note from the spot
Police found a note at the scene of the incident. Aditi expressed his disappointment through the words of the note. She was reportedly disappointed for not being selected for higher-level cricket, which might have forced her to think that her parents would not feel proud of her non-selection.
In the same note, Aditi also mentioned that his brother, Prabal, will one day become a successful cricketer and will the parents proud.
“Dada, you play so well. You will become very big. Make our parents proud. I am sad I couldn’t be selected,” the suicide note reads, as per the police.
Senior Inspector Chetan Chauhan mentioned after the initial investigation that Aditi, who was only 17, chose to end his life, might be because of disappointment for not getting selected in a higher team.
“The victim seems to have taken the drastic step due to disappointment over not getting selected in a big team,” said senior inspector Chetan Chauhan told the media.
The investigation process continues to find out the real reason behind the death
According to a TV9 Marathi report on July 31, Aditi’s brother Prabal plays cricket for Vidarbha. He also featured in the Vidarbha Premier League and is considered a budding talent. Chaukhande family, who love cricket at heart, believed that both Prabal and Aditi would emerge as well-known cricketers in the future.
There might be high hopes for Aditi. According to the media report, the family was hopeful that their daughter would achieve great success in this game.
Police are still investigating the matter to find out whether there was any other reason behind the incident. The real reason behind the incident will be known only after the autopsy report and a detailed investigation. Bajaj Nagar police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. On Thursday morning, police rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information, and they found her body hanging inside her room.
