1983 World Cup winner tells Sanjiv Goenka to blast Rishabh Pant inside dressing room

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal didn't go easy on Lucknow Super Giants team owner Sanjiv Goenka for his animated chat with Rishabh Pant after the game against the Punjab Kings. He said that the team should be allowed to enjoy their game and play freely.

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant is having a tough time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Southpaw has been struggling to get going both as a skipper as well as the batter, which has seen him facing a lot of criticism.

Under Rishabh Pant, Lucknow Super Giants have managed just one win in the league so far in three games. The Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise started the campaign against Delhi Capitals, and it seemed that they would start the tournament on high.

But that wasn't the case as Delhi Capitals snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat. After that, Rishabh Pant's team made a strong comeback as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad to get their campaign going and it was expected that they would continue the same form.

But, Lucknow Super Giants was at the receiving end of an 8-wicket thrashing at the hands of Punjab Kings. They were dominated with the bat and ball as it marked their second loss to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the third game that they played.

Pant also has been struggling to get going. The keeper-batter has failed to lead from the front as he bagged three consecutive failures. He registered low scores in all three games that he played, and this has been a major reason behind the team's poor outing.

Pant, who became the most expensive player in the history of IPL after he was bought for INR 27 crore, has failed to justify his price tag. With the team losing the game against Punjab Kings, the keeper-batter also faced a thrashing from owner Sanjiv Goenka as well.

After the match, Sanjiv Goenka was seen asking questions to his team's captain. The owner of the franchise seemed unhappy as Rishabh Pant was seen explaining something to the franchise owner.

This, however, didn't go well with 1983 World Cup winner Madan Lal. He said that all these things can happen inside, and the owner of the franchise should let the boys play freely as T20 cricket is unpredictable. Taking to his X account, he said:

"I don’t know the discussion between Rishab and Mr Sanjiv’s Goenka . All this can happen inside.Let boys enjoy the game let them play freely. 20/20 cricket very unpredictable."
